The Madhu Church festival takes place every year on 15 August when thousands of Catholic devotees flock from all over the island to Madhu Church premises to celebrate the feast of the Assumption of Our Lady. The flag hoisting on 6 August starts the nine day novena period before the Feast of Our Lady of Madhu on 15 August. In commemoration of this great feast of Our Lady of Madhu, we invite you to join in the celebration at Mt Schoenstatt Shrine Family Hall, Mulgoa on Sunday 6 August. The Holy Mass will be celebrated by Fr Chaminda Wanigasena, the Chaplain of the Sri Lankan Catholic community.
The Holy Mass will commence at 1:00 pm and will be celebrated in Sinhalese, Tamil and English in keeping with the traditional mass at Madhu and making it more meaningful to our Sri Lankan community.
The religious activities will conclude with the procession of the statue of Our Lady of Madhu carried on the shoulders in the traditional manner from the hall to the shrine. The concluding prayers and a special blessing will be given at the shrine.
